Nowadays, frauds, scammers, and hackers are infesting telegram, like if we search for a certain project and there are many results with the same project name and only one of them is the official group and the others are created to SCAM investors. In this article we will tackle the different types of scams and what can we do as an investor to not fall for them.

Type of scams in Telegram:

1. Fake Telegram group imitating a certain project

2. Fake Administrators

3. Stranger sending suspicious Links and APKs

4. Telegram Group promising big returns

What can we do to prevent being scammed?

1. If you want to join the telegram group of a certain project, make sure to get the proper TG link from their website or in their official Twitter accounts. Qitmeer Network is no exception when it comes to having a fake community impersonating it.

Example of a fake community

They will attract users by having an Airdrop and will direct the users to the link where users will connect their wallet to receive the airdrop, once the user is connected to that link, the frauds will automatically steal the user’s funds and will take full control of the wallet. Always remember to be vigilant and always double-check the group, and verify the authenticity of the group from their official website or official Twitter account.

2. We encourage the users to not trust other people in any way, there are many cases where users are being scammed because they were messaged first by a fraud posing as admin.

Example of a Fake administrator (Using the same name as Official Admins)

They are targeting those people who have questions about their wallet or their funds, they will message them first and will act as if they will help them, they will then tell the user to give them the mnemonics or ask the user to connect to a suspicious website. We are reminding everyone that Qitmeer Admins will never DM first and will NEVER ask for your phrase or funds, always check the authenticity by their username or asking the group. If someone messages you first with the same name as the official admin 100% it is a scammer impersonating our team.

3. Do not ever open the links or download the APKs sent by a stranger

Example of people sending suspicious links/APKs

Please do not ever open the link as it might lead you to a phishing site, or download APKs as they might contain Trojan horse and malicious malware, downloading it might infect your device and will cause a loss of funds/assets.

4. Never trust the group claiming to have big ROIs when you invest in their platform.

This kind of scam is so common, a random person will add you to their group and you can see bots talking about how they have made big returns by investing in a certain platform, like how their 300$ became 5000$, always remember, there is no easy money, never invest in platforms promising big returns, grind and work hard for the money, never be lured in their sweet talks or else you will lose your assets.

Reminders:
1. Admins will Never DM first and will never ask for your phrase or mnemonics
2. Never Connect to a Suspicious link.
3. If someone messages you first claiming to be an admin and having the same name as admin, it is 100% fake, please block and report immediately.
